With less than a week before Congress returns to Washington, members of the House and Senate are making a final push to mobilize their constituents on immigration issues. This week, at least one field hearing is intended to promote reasonable immigration reform: the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in Texas will likely focus on Senator Cornyn's SKIL Act, much-needed legislation that increases visas available for high-skilled immigrants. In other regions, however, conservative members of Congress continue to organize one-sided, faux hearings, so demonstrating support for reasonable, comprehensive reform remains critically important.
